Samcheonggak in Seongbuk-gu Presents the Elegance and Taste of Korea to Seniors on the 10th in Celebration of Family Month

Over 100 Local Seniors Invited for Meals and Performances

Formation of a Healthy Senior Culture through Social and Cultural Activities for the Elderly

Samcheonggak, a representative traditional cultural and arts complex located in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (CEO Ha Chaeheon), hosted the ‘Seongbuk-gu Seniors Festival’ on the 10th, inviting local seniors in celebration of Family Month.

After renovation work last year, Samcheonggak newly refurbished hosted this event, inviting 100 seniors in need of care, including those living alone, serving meals and presenting traditional performances such as folk songs, samulnori (traditional percussion quartet), Taepyeongmu (peace dance), Sogo dance (small drum dance), and trot music.

The atmosphere was highly elevated throughout the event with enthusiastic responses from the seniors.

One senior said, “I felt lonely spending May, the month with Parents’ Day, alone, but being treated to delightful performances and delicious food in such a wonderful space gave me great comfort.”

Ha Chaeheon, CEO of Samcheonggak, stated, “The reason our country has prospered this much is largely due to the hard work and sweat of our seniors. With the heart of honoring parents, we prepared this event for seniors who are alone during Family Month,” explaining the purpose of the event.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I appreciate Samcheonggak, a representative traditional cultural complex in Seongbuk-dong, for hosting this meaningful event for local seniors. We will continue to support seniors so that they can enjoy a vibrant old age without being isolated through public-private cooperation.”

Set against the beautiful scenery of Bukhansan Mountain, Samcheonggak, which harmonizes five hanok houses, two pavilions, and three courtyards, was remodeled and newly opened in June last year. It has been reborn as an arts complex space where traditional culture and arts can be enjoyed and experienced, actively practicing coexistence with the local community.
