On the 10th, Ahn Hyeong-ju, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, proposed the 'Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on the Management and Operation of Sports Facilities in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City,' laying the foundation for revitalizing community sports activities.
This ordinance amendment includes key provisions such as ▲ priority use rights for facilities for sports activities (including games, lessons, etc.) conducted by registered sports clubs ▲ fee reductions for registered sports clubs.
Councilor Ahn stated, “With the enforcement of the 'Sports Club Act' on June 16, 2022, sports clubs are divided into ‘designated sports clubs’ and ‘registered sports clubs,’ but the current ordinance lacks sufficient support for registered sports clubs, which led me to propose this amendment.”
He added, “Through this ordinance amendment, we have established the foundation for revitalizing registered sports clubs by granting priority facility use rights and reducing facility usage fees by up to 80%. This ordinance was prepared with the intention of promoting community sports and contributing to the development of sports within the district.”
Meanwhile, Seo-gu currently operates 3 designated sports clubs with 524 members and 8 registered sports clubs with 260 members.
