China's April CPI Increase Limited to 0.1%, Below Expectations

China's consumer price index (CPI) inflation rate for April came in at 0.1% year-on-year, falling short of expectations.


According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China on the 11th, China's CPI inflation rate for April was 0.1%, below both the previous month's figure (0.7%) and the forecast (0.3%). This is also the lowest figure in 2 years and 2 months since February 2021 (-0.2%).

The producer price index (PPI) fell 3.6% year-on-year, missing both the previous month's figure (-2.5%) and the forecast (-3.3%). The PPI fluctuation was the lowest in 2 years and 11 months since May 2020 (-3.7%).
