Busan City will hold the ‘2023 Jakdang Festival Neverland’ over two days on the 13th and 14th at the Youth Jakdangso, Busan’s representative youth cultural space located on the 3rd floor of BNK Art Cinema in Sinchang-dong, Jung-gu.
Now in its third year, the ‘Jakdang Festival’ is a festival featuring various cultural and artistic events such as markets, performances, exhibitions, lectures, and artistic creation experiences.
This year’s event includes ▲‘Youth Artist Exhibition and Live Painting Performance’ that recalls the innocence of youth, featuring artists Lee Seung-eun (Never Forget island) and Schreiben (Peter Pan’s Phantasm), and ▲‘Outdoor Performances’ with four youth musician teams including Burning Soda and Oneurin Yun Hye-rin.
Also, ▲the ‘Be-Fine Atelier Program’ offers experiential workshops such as sea knife flower drawing (Gamseong Geurida), perfumery classes (Frommare), and glass art mirrors (Olh Eun Rattan), while ▲the ‘Find My Neverland Program’ features experiential lectures themed on wellness and healing that embrace the inner child trapped in adulthood.
Additionally, the ▲‘Kidult Art Market,’ which evokes childhood memories, will be held continuously, and ▲the Movie Novel Club, where participants watch films and discuss them, will be operated by Geumji Okyeop and the movie theater run by Motungi Theater, along with the reading community ‘Sagwa.’
All programs except those requiring prior reservation are open to everyone without any participant limits, expected to invigorate youth cultural and artistic activities.
Opened in February 2021 on Gwangbok-dong Movie Street, Youth Jakdangso is Busan’s representative youth cultural space where visitors can experience diverse cultural and artistic programs; last year, more than 10,000 people visited.
This year, various youth cultural and artistic programs are ongoing, including youth artist exhibitions, youth programmers, cultural and artistic experiential lectures, support for youth community activities, and venue rentals.
Nam Jeong-eun, Director of the Youth Industry-Academia Division of the city, said, “We hope that young people, exhausted from studies and employment, will have enough time to rest and recover through this Jakdang Festival event,” adding, “We will continue to hold youth cultural events tailored to the changes and sensitivities of young people.”
