Jeonnam Province Hosts Public and Big Data Utilization Idea Contest

Jeonnam Province announced on the 11th that it will hold the "2023 Jeollanam-do Public and Big Data Utilization Idea Contest."

This contest was promoted in collaboration with the Jeonnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency to discover and nurture startup ideas and business models utilizing public and big data, aiming to revitalize data-driven administration.

The contest is conducted in two categories: "Idea Planning" and "Product and Service Development," and any citizen of the Republic of Korea can participate.

Citizens wishing to participate can apply via email from the 15th until July 5th.

Submissions will be evaluated by internal and external experts, and a total of five works will be selected, including one grand prize, two excellence awards, and two encouragement awards, with awards planned around July.

The grand prize and excellence awards will receive certificates from the Governor of Jeonnam Province and prize money of 3 million KRW and 2 million KRW respectively, while the encouragement awards will receive certificates from the Director of the Jeonnam Information & Culture Industry Promotion Agency and prize money of 1.5 million KRW.

The grand prize winner will qualify to represent Jeonnam Province at the "11th Government-wide Public Data Utilization Startup Competition" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, scheduled for the end of August.

Additionally, various follow-up support will be provided, including advice on business supplementation, consulting on technology patents and copyright registration, and marketing.

Jeong Geum-sook, Smart Information Officer of Jeonnam Province, said, "We hope this contest will enhance the utilization of public and big data and activate startups through the discovery of creative ideas from the private sector," adding, "We look forward to the interest and participation of residents and local companies."
