The traditional fermented rice cake, Gung Jangjiji Tteok, has been selected as the commemorative cake for President Yoon Suk-yeol's first anniversary in office and was officially supplied to the Blue House, the company announced on the 11th.
O Gi-seok, CEO of Gung Jangjiji Tteok, said, "Jangjiji Tteok is a traditional fermented rice cake that can be easily enjoyed anytime and anywhere. It is easily digestible and provides substantial nutrition, establishing itself as a representative rice cake brand of Korea. We believe that being chosen as the commemorative cake for the president's first anniversary is due to the unique strengths of traditional rice cakes, preserving the natural taste with a soft and chewy texture that has gained word-of-mouth popularity among many people."
Gung Jangjiji Tteok is made from Korean rice and Makgeolli. The company explained that no preservatives, additives (yeast), or colorants are used, and it is naturally fermented for a long time, making it resistant to spoilage or deterioration even at room temperature. Freshly milled domestic new rice is shaped into small round pieces, making it popular as a substitute for breakfast.
The filling is made from carefully selected low-sugar red beans turned into paste to harmonize with the rice cake. The three main products include Mugwort Jangjiji Tteok made with mugwort grown against the sea breeze of Jeju, and Chestnut Jangjiji Tteok made with high-quality chestnuts.
