Ceremony Held for Awarding the War Medal to 6·25 Korean War Veterans
On the 10th, Haman-gun, Gyeongnam held the '2023 Haman-gun Veterans Organization Senior Citizens Comfort Party' at the outdoor performance hall of Hamju Park, attended by national veterans and members of veterans organizations.
Hosted by the Haman-gun branch president of the Korea War Veterans Association, the event was attended by about 300 veterans' families, County Governor Jo Geun-je, provincial council members, the compensation manager of the Gyeongnam Eastern Veterans Office, and officials from the 39th Division, to honor the spirits of the patriotic martyrs and express gratitude and consolation to the veterans.
In particular, the event included the awarding of the '6.25 War Merit Medals.' Medals were presented to the families of seven deceased veterans who died or distinguished themselves during the Korean War: the late Kim Kyung-tae, the late Choi In-chan, the late Park Yong-joo, the late Lee Ik-se, the late Hong Soo-hoon, the late Lee Woo-gang, and the late Choi Myung-jo, encouraging national veterans and their families to take pride and feel honored.
Governor Jo said in his congratulatory speech, “We pay tribute to the sacrifices and achievements of the veterans who brought prosperity and development to our country, and we will do our best to provide better treatment and support for their dedication to the nation.”
This year, the county increased the consolation money for national veterans and their families from 30,000 won to 50,000 won per person, and is promoting projects to honor national veterans by providing funeral assistance upon the death of a national veteran.
