SK Telecom announced on the 9th that it will launch ‘Uju Pass Life,’ a subscription service priced at 9,900 KRW per month that includes ‘YouTube Premium’ along with discounts (up to 30%) at Seven Eleven and Twosome Place.
Currently, the fee customers pay when subscribing to and paying for YouTube Premium through the YouTube app on Android smartphones is in the 10,000 KRW range per month. ‘Uju Pass Life’ is considered to have strong price competitiveness as it offers convenience store and cafe discount benefits at a similar price.
SKT also offers YouTube Premium for 10,450 KRW on ‘Uju Pass All,’ which includes benefits for domestic and international shopping and digital services such as 11st, Amazon, and Google One.
YouTube Premium is a popular paid membership service that provides ▲ad-free uninterrupted video viewing on YouTube ▲offline video saving and viewing ▲background playback ▲YouTube Music, among other features. It has over 80 million members worldwide. The company expects that offering YouTube Premium will further accelerate subscriber growth for ‘T Uju.’
With the addition of YouTube Premium to the subscription products, T Uju customers can now expand their subscription options to include not only commerce, F&B (food and beverage), and mobility but also global video platform services.
Along with the launch of the T Uju YouTube Premium product, SKT will also run various customer promotions starting from the 9th. Customers subscribing to Uju Pass for the first time can use discount coupons provided by SKT to enjoy YouTube Premium free for the first month. Additionally, among customers who subscribe using the coupon, nine will be selected by lottery to receive overseas travel vouchers worth approximately 9 million KRW each.
Yoon Jae-woong, head of SK Telecom’s Subscription CO, said, “Through the launch of this T Uju product, customers can enjoy YouTube Premium along with differentiated partnership benefits,” adding, “In addition to adding YouTube Premium, we plan to expand the number of preferred partner stores to over 100 by the end of the year.”
