"Kim Jaewon, Fought Hard Against the Left, No Disciplinary Action"
Top Leadership Return Kim "Will Find What Is Needed for the Party"
The Ethics Committee of the People Power Party's Central Party has initiated disciplinary procedures against Supreme Council members Kim Jaewon and Tae Youngho, while some party members have submitted a petition opposing the disciplinary action against Kim. After a month of self-reflection, Kim attended the Supreme Council meeting on the 3rd and firmly dismissed any intention of voluntary resignation, saying, "I have never considered it."
Song Sedaal, former vice chairman of the Daegu City Council, and the 'People's Group Opposing the Disciplinary Action Against Supreme Council Member Kim' held a press conference in front of the People Power Party's central party office on the same day, stating, "There is no legitimacy in disciplining Kim Jaewon, Supreme Council member of the People Power Party," and submitted a petition opposing the disciplinary action to the party.

They argued, "If Supreme Council member Kim is disciplined, it is obvious that a relentless offensive from the opposition party and left-wing media will follow," adding, "If this happens, Supreme Council members Tae Youngho, Cho Sujin, Kim Byungmin, and Jang Yechan will sequentially collapse, and the Kim Kihyun administration will inevitably have to move to a provisional leadership committee." They also said, "If we discipline Kim, who has fought hard, who will stand up against the left-wing camp?"
Previously, Supreme Council member Kim sparked controversy with remarks such as opposing the inclusion of the May 18 spirit in the constitution, calling Pastor Jeon Kwanghoon the unifier of the right-wing, and describing the Jeju 4.3 incident as a low-level commemorative event. In response, the People Power Party's Central Party Ethics Committee initiated disciplinary procedures on the 1st against Kim and Supreme Council member Tae, who was involved in controversy over remarks about the '4.3 Kim Il-sung memorial site.'
Meanwhile, after attending the Supreme Council meeting on the day, Kim told reporters that when asked about his intention to voluntarily resign, "I have not thought about that yet."
Kim said, "I was instructed to reflect quietly for the entire month of April, and also to visit Jeju Island and Gwangju to apologize, so I have faithfully carried out those instructions. Now that period has ended, so naturally, I have to attend the Supreme Council again," adding, "I will continue to work hard, seeking out what is necessary for the party and the country."
