Police Block Distribution of Illegal Sexual Content on SNS... Monitoring and Removal Measures

The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency recently apprehended Mr. A, who is suspected of producing 21 videos involving sexual acts with minors and distributing them through paid subscription-based SNS while collecting subscription fees. Considering cases where crimes escalate to sexual exploitation of minors by featuring minors in sexual acts, the police have expressed their commitment to actively respond.

The police stated that they will focus on the Cyber Sexual Violence Investigation Teams of the metropolitan and provincial police agencies to arrest those involved in producing and distributing illegal sexual videos on paid subscription-based SNS under violations of the Information and Communications Network Act and the Youth Protection Act. They also plan to strengthen monitoring of platforms such as Twitter.

Additionally, they will thoroughly track and recover criminal proceeds from these acts and collaborate with the Korea Communications Standards Commission to delete and block illegal videos.

The police stated, "We will pursue and recover criminal proceeds to the end to establish sound sexual morals," and added, "We will do our best to prevent sexual exploitation crimes against minors in advance."
