Ulleung-gun and Ulleung-gun Council Visit National Assembly to Advocate for Enactment of Island Special Act

On the 1st, Ulleung-gun and the Ulleung-gun Council in Gyeongbuk made a surprise visit to the office of Kim Gi-hyeon, the leader of the People Power Party, to advocate for the enactment of the Ulleungdo-Dokdo Support Special Act.


The special act was proposed on March 30 and was submitted to the full meeting of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee on April 25, after which it was referred to the first subcommittee for bill review.

Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, Gong Kyung-sik, the chairman, and all council members met with Representative Kim Byung-wook and requested Leader Kim Gi-hyeon to support the enactment of the special act.


In response, Kim Gi-hyeon, leader of the People Power Party, said, "I sympathize with the purpose of the bill and will actively cooperate to ensure the special act is enacted."


Governor Nam explained the necessity and justification for the enactment of the special act, stating, "The enactment of the special act is absolutely essential to overcome the crisis of regional and population extinction in the county."
