Various Programs Presented Across the Region in Celebration of Family Month

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that in celebration of Family Month in May, various ‘Children’s Day cultural events’ that the whole family can enjoy together will be held throughout the district.
First, on Children’s Day itself, a variety of events will be prepared at the Seoul-style kids cafe ‘OsaekkkalkkalKids (Sinjeong 7-dong branch)’ for preschool children aged 36 months and older and their families to spend time together. Creative art activities using sand called ‘Sand Art’, curiosity-stimulating programs like ‘Find the Animal Friends’, and ‘Magic Balloon Making’ will be offered as diverse hands-on experiences. A photo zone will also be operated to capture happy family moments.
On the same day, the Sinwol Youth Culture Center will open ‘Yangcheon Children’s Land’ for local children and youth. The event will feature a Children’s Day ceremony along with ▲celebratory performances ▲large air bounce attractions ▲balloon art and imaginative drawing ▲family game center ▲face painting and water tattoos ▲food stalls (including jjajangmyeon and cotton candy), and various other corners.
Notably, during the Children’s Day ceremony, children will directly recite the Children’s Charter and perform congratulatory performances. All families participating in the ceremony will receive a flowerpot as a gift.
The welfare centers will also host abundant Children’s Day celebrations. From May 3rd to 6th, themed experience and play booths, photo zones, and food zones will be available at the Sinwol, Hanbit, Sinjeong, and Sinmok Comprehensive Social Welfare Centers, offering programs that satisfy all five senses.
On May 20th, the ‘Yangcheon Family Festival - GabojaGO’ will be held in the front yard of Sinwol 6-dong Administrative Complex Town. Under the theme ‘Eat, Rest, Enjoy, and Share with Family,’ free experience booths such as making anti-lost bracelets, wind-up robot making, and face painting will be operated in the front yard of the administrative town. The Family Center (3rd floor) will host a bubble show performance for the whole family, a multicultural playground, and a family mini sports day. Food booths offering children’s favorite snacks like cotton candy, hot bars, and popcorn will also be available, so visitors can look forward to it.

Let’s All Play Together at Yongma Waterfall Park! Jungnang-gu to Hold ‘Children’s Play Festival’ on the 5th

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will hold the ‘Children’s Play Festival’ at Yongma Waterfall Park Circular Plaza on May 5th to celebrate Children’s Day.
The ‘Children’s Play Festival’ is part of the Jungnang Future Education District village activity support project, providing a space where children can freely run and play. Starting in 2021 under the name ‘Play Camp,’ the program was held throughout the village and expanded last year into the ‘Play Festival’ where children gather to play together, attracting over 1,500 children last year alone.
This year’s Play Festival will begin with community games involving all participants, followed by 17 teams conducting various themed activities. More than 20 diverse physical activities are prepared, including traditional games, board games, and overseas traditional culture experiences.
The program will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Yongma Waterfall Park Circular Plaza in Jungnang-gu, and all children visiting on the day can freely join without prior registration.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “I hope children, the protagonists of Children’s Day, can laugh, run freely, and create happy memories. We will continue to strive to prepare various programs so that children, the future leaders, can gain diverse experiences and enjoy themselves.”
The district has been designated as a Seoul-type Innovative Education District since 2019 and has been promoting various innovative education projects. Starting this year, it plans to leap forward as a future education district that helps children and youth develop the capabilities to adapt to a changing future. Centered on communication, it will implement 18 future education projects in four areas: school curriculum operation with the village, village activity support, and support for children and youth autonomous activities through public-private-academic cooperation.

Creating a safe and enjoyable sensory festival so the whole family can make happy memories
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that on the 5th, to celebrate the 101st Children’s Day, it will hold the ‘Fun-Fun-Fun Yeongdeungpo Children’s Festival’ at Yeongdeungpo Park, featuring various experiences, games, and performances starting at 10 a.m.
The children’s festival, held for the first time in four years since COVID-19, offers a unique and fun experience unlike typical children’s festivals under the theme ‘Fun-Fun-Fun.’ The district has prepared the festival so that families can enjoy the spring atmosphere with performances, experiences, games, and food, allowing Children’s Day to be felt through all five senses.
The festival is divided into ▲Stage Performance Zone featuring shows ▲Experience Zone where children can make their own bookmarks and more ▲Play Zone with air bounces and kids riders to excite children ▲Rest Zone for family picnics on the grass ▲Food Zone with food trucks offering tasty treats, operating from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Especially, the stage performance zone at the circular plaza is the festival’s central space with continuous performances. Visitors can enjoy parades by Air Avatar and Tall Uncle, magic shows, and sound circus performances.
The experience zone offers 31 activities including family photo booths and 3D pen experiences. The play zone includes air bounces for toddlers and children, air sports like soccer and basketball, and single-person kids rider rides. The rest zone provides a wide grassy area where visitors can rest their bodies and minds after participating in events and experiences, and they can bring mats to enjoy picnics. Note that the experience and play zones require a participation fee of 1,000 KRW, which will be fully donated.
In case of rain on the event day, the event may be fully or partially canceled or postponed, and notification messages will be sent accordingly.
Additionally, the district will assign safety management personnel at each booth to prevent accidents and crowd congestion, focusing on safety management.

Dobong-gu to Hold ‘Let’s Play! Excitingly Together~’ Children’s Day Festival at Choansan Ecological Park on May 5th

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) will hold the Dobong-gu Children’s Day Festival under the theme ‘Let’s Play! Excitingly Together~’ at Choansan Ecological Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 5th.
The event will begin with a march by the Dobong Children’s Character Parade Team, followed by ▲opening ceremony ▲celebratory performances (electronic string children’s song medley, art balloon show) ▲children’s song remix with DJ ▲Zoltan comic show ▲magic bubble show ▲Dobong’s 50th anniversary OH~ quiz show, and various other performances.
Especially, the Dobong Children’s Character Parade, marking the start of the festival, will feature about 100 daycare and kindergarten children dressed as their favorite characters regardless of genre, showcasing their personalities while marching behind a military band, providing a unique enjoyment for visitors.
Various experience booths for families to enjoy together will also be operated. About 30 experience booths from 17 related organizations will be available for children, including ▲one-day police officer experience ▲coloring ▲eco-design job experience ▲woodworking experience ▲board games ▲water tattoo experience.
The military experience zone, ambitiously prepared by the 2188th Unit 3rd Battalion for Children’s Day, will offer displays of various latest military equipment, BB gun shooting experiences, combat ration tasting, and face painting, providing children with unique experiences and evoking nostalgic memories for adults, offering another source of enjoyment for families visiting the event.
For children visiting the Children’s Day event, Dobong Mini Land will be set up with air bounces, Battle King, and animal riders, and throughout Choansan Ecological Park, abundant play areas such as bubble experience zones, big block zones, 70s-80s arcade, and ‘Find the Forest Dinosaur’ will be prepared.
Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, “This Children’s Day festival is composed of rich content that will create unforgettable memories not only for children but also for the whole family. I hope children can nurture their dreams and adults can enjoy a joyful time returning to their childhood through various programs.”
During the main event hours, Chang 1-dong Community Center to Changil Middle School road (360m, 2-lane road section) will be designated as a car-free street and traffic will be controlled for the event. For vehicle users, a separate event parking lot will be provided at Changil Middle School playground.
Seodaemun-gu Raises Awareness of the Importance of Animals to Children
‘Visiting Children’s Animal Protection Classroom’ for daycare, kindergarten children, and elementary school students
Covers pet etiquette, prevention of animal safety accidents, companion animal behavior language, and respect for life
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Sung-heon) will operate the ‘Visiting Children’s Animal Protection Classroom’ from this month through November for 6-7-year-old children in local daycare centers and kindergartens and 3rd-4th graders in elementary schools.
The district prepared this program to instill the value of the preciousness of animals and respect for life in children.
KOHAI (Korea Human-Animal Welfare Education Center), a professional animal protection education company, will provide 40-minute classes per class for about 100 classes and approximately 2,000 children.
The content includes basic pet etiquette, prevention of animal safety accidents, companion animal behavior language, and respect for life, delivered in an easy and fun way using customized teaching aids and animations.
