‘Children’s Day Festival’ Held on May 5 to Commemorate 2nd Anniversary and the 101st Children’s Day

Celebratory Performances and Programs Including Play, 4th Industrial Revolution, and Career Experience Offered



Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center will mark its 2nd anniversary on May 4.


The Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center, a hub for local education, offers customized education programs for all age groups, from the youngest 5-year-old students to the eldest 76-year-old seniors, and has received great support from residents with over 50,000 cumulative visitors.


Since its opening in May 2021, the center has carried on the legacy of Sofa Bang Jeong-hwan, who rests in Mangwoo History and Culture Park, by providing various educational programs. It has become a place where children nurture dreams and hopes, a solution hub for youth facing uncertain career and academic paths, and a valuable space for adults to broaden their life horizons.


On May 5, the center will hold a ‘Children’s Day Festival’ to celebrate its 2nd anniversary and the 101st Children’s Day. The festival will take place from 11 a.m. at the Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center.


In the spirit of Sofa Bang Jeong-hwan’s wish for “children to quietly learn, freely sing, and joyfully play,” celebratory performances including children’s song choir, K-POP dance, magic shows, and the children’s play ‘Fly, Caterpillar’ are prepared. The performances will be held in the 7th-floor multipurpose room.

At the same time, various programs where children can fully experience and play will be held on each floor of the center. On the 1st floor, play-type programs such as face painting, balloon art, and traditional games will be available. The basement 1st floor will offer programs to experience the 4th industrial revolution, including mini cars, robot coding, VR experiences, and drone simulators. Additionally, on the 5th floor program room, children can try various career experiences such as magician, candle artist, and chocolatier.


All programs except career experiences are open for free participation on-site. Career experience programs require prior registration through the center’s website.


Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope children, the future leaders, enjoy the festival to the fullest and create happy memories. We will strive to prepare educational programs that actively utilize the Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center to provide various opportunities for residents of all ages, including children, to dream and fully develop their talents.”


The district is currently promoting the construction of the 2nd Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center in the Myeonmok-dong area, aiming for completion in 2025, to meet the high demand for educational programs at the center.

Event Held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Children’s Day at Geumcheon Sports Park

Abundant Fun and Attractions with Various Booth Experiences and Performances



Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that it will hold the Geumcheon Children’s Grand Festival ‘Friend, Let’s Play!’ at Geumcheon Sports Park in Doksan-dong from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 5.


This year marks the 16th anniversary of the Children’s Day event, carefully prepared by a preparatory committee composed of 42 civic groups wishing children to have a joyful day.


The event will begin with the reading of the ‘UN Children’s Rights Declaration’ by elementary school students from the Geumcheon area, followed by various programs full of fun and attractions.


At the Geumcheon Sports Park event area, visitors can enjoy diverse experiential activities such as ▲Snake Dice Game ▲Forest Rope Play ▲Nanta Experience ▲Mud Play ▲Puppet Show ▲Crossword Quiz, and more.

Additionally, the day’s stars, the children, will hold a ‘Children’s Flea Market’ where they can buy and sell items, and a talent show where children can freely showcase their talents and skills.


To encourage resource recycling, Geumcheon-gu will give souvenirs to those who bring 5 milk cartons or 10 bottle caps, and first-grade kitchen detergent to those who bring empty 500ml plastic bottles.


At the end of the event, children and their families will participate in a trash-picking game. Children who pick up trash around them will receive Children’s Day gifts such as stationery.

Jongno-gu’s Children’s Theater Celebrates 7th Anniversary with Musical ‘Gugu’ Performance

From April 28 to May 7, the musical ‘Gugu’ is performed at Jongno Children’s Theater to commemorate its 7th anniversary

Inspired by the folktale ‘The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl’... A time to reflect on coexistence with nature and the importance of the ecosystem



Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Mun-heon) will present a special performance, the musical ‘Gugu,’ from April 28 to May 7 to celebrate the 7th anniversary of the Children’s Theater.


In celebration of Family Month in May, it will be a meaningful time for children and families to watch the performance and learn about coexistence between nature and humans and the preciousness of the natural ecosystem.


The performance is inspired by the folktale ‘The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl,’ who meet once a year on the magpie bridge.


Through the story of birds who lost their habitats due to human greed becoming true friends and the harmonious life of Gugu and humans, the musical aims to offer deep insight and emotion to young audiences.

The musical ‘Gugu’ will be performed until May 7, with shows at 11 a.m. on weekdays, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and 3 p.m. on Sundays. On Children’s Day, May 5, performances are available at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.


The performance lasts 60 minutes and is suitable for ages 36 months and older. Ticket prices are 30,000 KRW for all seats, with discounts for Jongno-gu residents, families with multiple children, and those wearing hanbok. For more details, contact Jongno Children’s Theater.

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho) will distribute ‘Gwang-i and Jin-i’ emoticons for free to new KakaoTalk channel subscribers in celebration of Children’s Day in May.


The district’s representative characters ‘Gwang-i and Jin-i’ are loved by residents for their cute and charming appearances. The emoticon distribution events have always been very popular, often selling out quickly.


This time, 16 types of animated emoticons are introduced. Named ‘How Gwang-i and Jin-i Communicate,’ they reflect the communication-focused spirit of the 8th elected administration. The emoticons feature diverse and witty expressions that add liveliness, with adorable movements that highlight the characters’ personalities and bring smiles to viewers.


Additionally, frequently used everyday phrases are included to increase usability. Expressions such as ‘Aha!’, ‘Shock’, ‘Applause’, ‘Sorry’, and ‘Fully Charged’ creatively depict various daily situations. The characters spin around with a panicked look, cry tears, and scatter flower pollen.

To participate, search for ‘Gwangjin-gu Office’ in the KakaoTalk search bar and add the channel. The emoticons can be used for 30 days from the download date.


Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho said, “To celebrate the festive month of May, we are holding this subscription event to share district news with many people. We will continue to use various communication tools, including Gwang-i and Jin-i, to approach residents naturally and warmly.”


Meanwhile, at the ‘Seoul Fairy Tale Festival’ held on May 6-7, a prize giveaway event for district SNS subscribers will also be held. By subscribing to the KakaoTalk, blog, Facebook, and other SNS channels, residents can quickly and easily receive news related to their daily lives.
