Gungneung Heritage Headquarters 'Joseon Royal Tomb Ritual Experience'

Seolleung Gisinjehyang Participating in Ritual as Ritual Officer

The Cultural Heritage Administration's Royal Tombs and Relics Headquarters will hold the event "Experience the Joseon Royal Ancestral Rituals - Encounter the Nation's Ceremony" at Seolleung in Seoul every Saturday and Sunday from the 13th to the 21st of next month. Participants will join the Gisin Jerye ritual with expert explanations and guidance. The event involves preparing the ritual table by placing ceremonial food in ritual vessels, and participants will take on roles such as Jesa officiant, Heongwan (offering a cup to the deity), Daechuk (overseeing the ritual hall and reading the ritual prayer), and Chanja (reading the order of the ritual), performing the actual ancestral rites. The Gisin Jerye is a memorial rite held on the anniversary of the death of a king or queen. It is still conducted once a year at the royal tombs. Each session accommodates thirty-two participants. Applicants must be at least in the 4th grade of elementary school. For registration and more details, please refer to the websites of the Royal Tombs and Relics Headquarters, Joseon Royal Tombs, and Jeonju Lee Clan Daedong Jongyakwon.
