Over 912,000 Orders Recorded Since July 2021 Launch
More Than 8,700 Franchise Stores... Increased Profits with Low Brokerage Fees
The Gwangju public delivery app ‘WEMAKEPRICE O’ is showing steady growth.
Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Gi-jung) announced on the 26th that the Gwangju public delivery app WEMAKEPRICE O recorded sales of 22.8 billion KRW as of the 24th.
WEMAKEPRICE O is a delivery service launched in July 2021 to reduce the brokerage fee burden on local small business owners and increase sales. Over the past 1 year and 10 months, it has grown with about 8,700 affiliated stores and a cumulative order count of approximately 912,000.
Gwangju City estimated that the steady increase in sales is due to the low brokerage fees and support policies of the Gwangju public delivery app, as well as the interest of citizens participating in ‘good consumption.’
The brokerage fee for the Gwangju public delivery app is 2%, which is cheaper than the brokerage fees of private delivery apps (6.8% to 15%). As app usage increases, the brokerage fee savings on sales (4.8% to 13%) lead to increased profits for small business owners and self-employed individuals.
Gwangju City has reported that at least 1.09 billion KRW in brokerage fee savings has translated into operating profits for small business owners.
In particular, Gwangju City has attracted consumer interest through events such as issuing discount coupons, paybacks, and franchise partnership discounts to increase sales for small business owners.
In May, various discount events will be held in celebration of Family Month. From May 1 to 31, in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company, a 10,000 KRW discount coupon will be offered to first-time customers, along with a Biennale ticket giveaway event.
To participate, customers can scan the QR code on the event page within the WEMAKEPRICE O banner or visit a Hyundai Motor Company store. The 10,000 KRW discount coupon for first-time customers will be given to the first 200 people, and among participants, 100 will be selected by lottery to receive Biennale tickets.
Additionally, on the 5th, 15th, and 25th?dates containing the number ‘5’?an immediate 5,000 KRW discount coupon will be issued to the first 500 customers. Every Saturday, a 3,000 KRW immediate discount coupon and every Sunday, a 2,000 KRW immediate discount coupon will be issued.
Traditional market shopping will also feature events throughout May, including free delivery fees and gifts for customers who order over 20,000 KRW.
Joo Jae-hee, Director of the Economic Startup Office, said, “We have prepared various events to repay the support of citizens for the Gwangju public delivery app during these difficult times of high inflation,” and added, “We ask citizens to actively use the app to spread ‘good consumption’ that revitalizes the local commercial district.”
