Providing U.S. Market Entry Strategies and Opportunities for Networking with Local Officials
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) held the 'U.S. Market Entry Strategy and Support Policy Briefing' on the 24th, co-hosted with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA) in Virginia, USA, to support local small and medium enterprises interested in entering the U.S. market.
Fairfax County, Virginia, is adjacent to Washington DC, the U.S. capital, and is known as the Silicon Valley of the East Coast, a hub of innovation and technology. Currently, more than 80 Korean companies have offices in Fairfax County. Songpa-gu has maintained a sister city relationship with Fairfax County since 2009 and has continued cooperation in various fields.
In particular, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), which co-hosted this event, has been providing various supports to Korean companies planning to enter and expand their business in the U.S. market since 2004.
Accordingly, Songpa-gu planned the 'U.S. Market Entry Strategy and Support Policy Briefing' with FCEDA, the first among local governments nationwide, to provide local small and medium enterprises with capabilities and potential an opportunity to expand their presence in the U.S. market.
The briefing was held for two hours at the Munjeong Biz Valley Job Hub Center in Songpa-gu, with participation from 45 local small and medium enterprises. The event began with welcoming remarks from Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, and Victor Hoskins, Director of FCEDA. Christy Youk, Head of Asia Division at FCEDA, gave a presentation on 'U.S. Market Entry Strategies and Best Practices.'
The main topics included ▲Preparations companies should make before entering the U.S. market ▲Requirements for establishing a local corporation ▲Marketing methods targeting U.S. clients ▲Effective sales strategies in the U.S. market ▲Support for initial business setup, providing detailed and thorough guidance with real successful case studies essential for entering the U.S. market.
After the lecture, a Q&A and networking session took place between FCEDA officials and participating companies. Local small and medium enterprises had a valuable opportunity to communicate directly with FCEDA, which serves as a foothold for entering the U.S. East Coast market, gaining vivid advice on ▲How to build a good local team after establishing a corporation ▲Promotion methods for products targeting the U.S. market ▲Local cost of living, weather, and popular restaurants.
Songpa-gu expects this briefing to serve as a stepping stone for local small and medium enterprises to build successful networks with local officials and establish efficient business expansion strategies.
