The festival consists of 16 programs across seven night-themed categories: Night View (Yagyeong), Night Road (Yaro), Night History (Yasa), Night Painting (Yahwa), Night Storytelling (Yaseol), Night Food (Yasik), and Night Market (Yasi). Visitors can take a stroll dressed in hanbok around the cultural heritage sites illuminated by starlight and attend a starlit history talk concert.
Additionally, starlight busking, traditional yard plays, and fusion performances will be held throughout the cultural heritage sites, along with guided tours to help visitors better understand the excellence of Changnyeong’s cultural heritage.
Various programs such as “Portraits Blooming at Night” and “Starry Photo Studio” are prepared, and a stamp tour will be conducted alongside the night festival, allowing participants to collect stamps and receive local specialty products. Photo zones around the cultural heritage sites, illuminated by diverse night lighting and starlight, offer great opportunities to take memorable photos with family and friends.
At the Youth Plaza and Changnyeong Manokjeong Park, an art market will be prepared in collaboration with local artists and mom cafes, featuring exhibitions, hands-on experiences, sales booths, and a food truck zone.
A county official said, “We are pleased to hold the Changnyeong Cultural Heritage Night Festival, illuminated by starlight, around Changnyeongcheon in May when the greenery is lush in the historic and cultural city of Changnyeong,” and added, “We have prepared a variety of programs and ask for your active participation.”
The opening ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. on May 12 at the outdoor stage in Manokjeong Park. As a pre-event, a pungmul (traditional Korean folk music and dance) performance and the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Yeongsan Soemori Daegi will be presented around the Changnyeong Suljeong-ri East Three-story Stone Pagoda area.
