Mungyeong City Hosts International Ceramic Symposium Gathering World-Renowned Ceramic Experts

Mungyeong City in Gyeongbuk will hold the 'International Ceramic Symposium' to revitalize the ceramic industry at Mungyeong Grand Resort from 10 a.m. on May 4.


Hosted by Mungyeong City and organized by the Dankook Ceramic Research Institute, this event will analyze the current status of the Mungyeong ceramic industry, which has grown alongside the Mungyeong Chatsabal Festival, an honorary cultural tourism festival selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Experts related to the ceramic industry from Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Italy will be invited to explore ways to revitalize and foster the Mungyeong ceramic industry within the flow of international ceramic culture.

The Mungyeong International Ceramic Symposium, held for the first time this year, will feature ceramic experts from around the world, including Kim Seonsik, a Gyeongbuk intangible cultural asset ceramic master, Chinese craft art ambassador Ho Munbong, Japanese Mugai Yasuo, Taiwanese Cho Mingsun, and Italian Karin Push Glassi. They will provide insights into the latest trends in the international ceramic market, analyze successful cases, and seek directions for expanding the scope of the Mungyeong ceramic industry and transforming it into a lifestyle ceramic industry.


A Mungyeong City official said, "We hope that this newly launched symposium will serve as an opportunity to solidify the status of Mungyeong ceramics, a cradle of modern and contemporary Korean ceramics, and establish the city as a central hub of the ceramic industry with traditional, modern, and international sensibilities."
