A woman in her 40s who stalked her husband's mistress to find evidence of his affair was sentenced to a fine.
On the 25th, Judge Moon Chaeyoung of Daegu District Court Criminal Division 6 sentenced A (49, female), who was indicted for violating the Stalking Crime Punishment Act, to a fine of 1 million won.
A was prosecuted for allegedly watching the inside of B's house, the husband's mistress, through a window from a building next to B's apartment complex and attempting to take photos with her mobile phone camera on April 1 of last year.
She also tried to open the trunk of B's car in the apartment complex parking lot and rummaged through the recycling bins, claiming she was looking for evidence to prove the affair between her husband and B. A received a summary order for a fine of 2 million won but requested a formal trial.
Judge Moon stated, "Considering that the defendant appeared to be mentally unstable due to her husband's affair and that she is a first-time offender with no criminal record, the sentence set in the summary order is somewhat excessive."
