Number One Girl Group in US Touring Data History
Surpasses Spice Girls with Highest Single Tour Revenue Ever
Average Ticket Price Around 280,000 Won... Higher Than BTS

‘BLACKPINK’ has even surpassed the legendary British girl group ‘Spice Girls.’ The Spice Girls are regarded as the most successful girl group in pop history. BLACKPINK has become the girl group with the highest tour revenue worldwide from a single tour. They earned 100 billion KRW in concert revenue in just two months.

The US concert tour box office tracking company ‘Touring Data’ announced on the 21st (local time) that after analyzing the ticket revenue of BLACKPINK’s ongoing world tour ‘Born Pink,’ they ranked as the ‘girl group with the highest tour revenue in history.’ They attracted 366,248 attendees over 26 shows, generating $78,485,210 (1.046 trillion KRW) in revenue. This surpassed the previous record held by the Spice Girls’ 2019 world tour revenue ($78.2 million from 11 shows).

The third highest in this category is TLC’s 2000 tour ($72.8 million), fourth is Destiny’s Child’s 2004 tour ($70.8 million), and fifth is the Spice Girls’ 2008 tour ($70 million). BLACKPINK, who has been touring since October last year, surpassed all of these with just their North American, European, and Korean concerts. Touring Data’s tally of last year’s concerts placed BLACKPINK at number one. All shows were sold out. BLACKPINK held 26 concerts last year and is currently conducting 31 shows mainly in Asia this year.

BLACKPINK held their first world tour from 2018 to 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, they sold 472,183 tickets and earned $56.75 million (approximately 75.7 billion KRW), ranking seventh historically. The average ticket price then was $120 (about 160,000 KRW), but for the Born Pink tour, it nearly doubled to $214 (about 285,000 KRW), which is also notable.

BLACKPINK’s tour performance is remarkable not only among girl groups but also in the overall concert market. Based on just two months of data, their revenue would rank 26th among global singers’ tour incomes last year. BTS, ranked 27th last year, held 11 shows attracting 458,145 attendees and earned $75.48 million (about 100.6 billion KRW). Their average ticket price was $164 (about 218,000 KRW). Although BLACKPINK’s venues were smaller, their average ticket price was about 70,000 KRW higher than BTS’s. The Born Pink tour has held 42 shows so far, with 15 remaining. Considering their continued strong popularity in Asia this year, sold-out shows are expected to continue. If this trend continues, the total audience size will reach approximately 1.5 million. Ticket revenue alone is expected to total 300 billion KRW. This would rank third in the world for annual tour revenue based on last year’s standards.

Having grown to stand shoulder to shoulder with legendary artists, BLACKPINK is attracting attention wherever they go. Recently, they headlined the ‘Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’ held in California, USA, heating up the stage. This is North America’s largest music festival, with 120,000 attendees in a single day. It was the first time in history that a K-pop artist headlined the festival. Ros? said, “I feel like my dream has come true to stand as a headliner at the world’s most beloved festival.”
