Eunpyeong-gu's Strong Leap Forward in Supporting Single-Person Households

Eight Projects Selected in Seoul's Single-Person Household Support Contest... Securing 150 Million KRW

Expansion of Single-Person Household Support Center, Happy Meals, Social Networks, Safe Jeonse and Monthly Rent Contract Support

Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) has been selected for a total of eight projects in the Seoul city-led contest related to support for single-person households, and will actively begin support for single-person households.

Following this selection, the district secured approximately 150 million KRW in city funds. This year, support projects will be promoted in various fields such as infrastructure, health, relationships, and housing for single-person households.

First, the Single-Person Household Support Center will be relocated and expanded, and professional staff will be added. The center will move to youth housing near Daejo-dong station, close to Bulgwang Station, to improve accessibility.

The space will be expanded to about 40 pyeong, including offices, counseling rooms, communication spaces, rest areas, and training rooms. Through customized programs such as systematic counseling by professionals, it will respond to the diverse needs of single-person households.

From May to November, the ‘Silver Single Soda (Social Dining)’ program will be promoted to provide happy meals for middle-aged and older single-person households. Through cooking and dining together, participants will be supported in maintaining healthy eating habits and forming social relationships. The program will be conducted at the Seoul 50 Plus Western Campus, Seoul Youth Center Eunpyeong Orang, and Yeokchon-dong Community Center.

To support social relationships and emotional well-being of single-person households, programs tailored to different target groups will be operated. To alleviate the internal alienation that youth preparing for independence may feel, psychological support such as sandplay therapy and group counseling based on personality type tests will be provided. Programs to enhance daily vitality will be operated by identifying isolated and reclusive middle-aged and older single-person households. Counseling programs will offer professional, specialized, and life mentoring to provide psychological support and relieve feelings of isolation among single-person households.

In response to recent social issues such as Jeonse fraud, a ‘Safe Jeonse and Monthly Rent Contract Assistance Service’ for single-person households will be implemented starting next month. It will provide contract counseling, housing search support, and accompaniment for house viewing. Experienced and professional housing safety managers will act as supporters to protect tenants' rights. Applications can be submitted online through the Seoul Single-Person Household Portal website.

Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said, “We will promote various projects reflecting regional characteristics according to the needs of single-person households,” adding, “We will create a happy city, Eunpyeong, where single-person households can feel healthy and safe lives in their daily lives.”

Joint Mock Training by Seongbuk-gu Office and Anam Police Precinct to Respond to Malicious Complainants According to Manual as in Real Situations

Ensuring Employee Safety through Prompt and Effective Response to Sudden Actions Such as Verbal Abuse and Assault by Complainants

Sequential Mock Training Against Malicious Complaints Planned at 20 Dong Community Service Centers in Seongbuk-gu

Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) conducted a mock training against malicious complaints on the 18th at the integrated civil service office of the district office to prepare for the increasing verbal abuse and assault by complainants each year.

The purpose is to protect civil service officers from sudden actions by complainants during civil service processing and to create a safe working environment.

The mock training involved a total of 35 participants, including civil service officers from the civil affairs passport and complaint departments, police officers from Anam Police Precinct, and district office security guards. The scenario assumed a situation where a complainant verbally abuses a public official and damages property.

An emergency response team was formed, and according to the complaint response manual, when the complainant verbally abused, the responsible employee asked the team leader for help. The team leader tried to calm the complainant, but when the verbal abuse did not stop, they notified the complainant of recording and collected evidence according to response procedures. When the complainant even damaged property, the emergency bell was pressed to request help from the nearby police precinct, and the district office security guards were called. The victimized public official was isolated, the offending complainant was subdued, and handed over to the police in a sequence of mock training that was like a real situation.
