A tragedy occurred in a South African household where 10 family members lost their lives due to a gunman’s shooting spree.
According to local police on the 21st (local time), an armed assailant broke into a home in Pietermaritzburg, the capital of KwaZulu-Natal province in eastern South Africa, and opened fire, killing 10 family members, including seven women and three men.
The incident reportedly took place late at night the previous day or in the early hours of the day.
Police leadership, including Police Minister Bheki Cele and National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola, are expected to visit the scene of the incident that day.
Meanwhile, South Africa, with a population of about 60 million, is one of the countries with the highest murder rates in the world, with approximately 20,000 homicides occurring annually.
