April 21 Earth Day, 'Seed Bomb'
Purification Activities at National Forest Healing Center
The Gyeongbuk Yeongju Volunteer Center (Director Ham Yeon-hwa) held an "Earth Day Environmental Campaign" on the 21st by throwing wildflower "seed bombs" around the National Forest Healing Center area in celebration of "Earth Day."
On the 21st, Yeongju Volunteer Center conducted an environmental campaign at the National Forest Healing Center.
The seed bomb throwing campaign involves placing seeds into organic natural soil, shaping them into balls, and then throwing them onto the ground from the air like dropping bombs to naturally encourage sprouts to grow.
About 30 members of the "Dispatch! Disaster Keeper Volunteer Corps" and the Women's Volunteer Group participated in the event.
This campaign was conducted by throwing handmade seed bombs into areas around the National Forest Healing Center that are difficult to access or where digging deep into the ground is challenging. The center organized the event to provide volunteers with diverse experiences beyond simple environmental cleanup activities.
Director Ham Yeon-hwa said, "I am glad to hold such a meaningful event at a time when natural damage is easily occurring due to frequent wildfires. Although a small spark can turn an ecosystem to ashes in an instant, I believe our activities to save nature will continue. I deeply thank the volunteers who participated in today's event."
The Yeongju Volunteer Center has been leading activities for the community, supporting volunteers during the Pyeong-eun wildfire on the 3rd, and conducting volunteer work at local festivals and important events.
