A man in his 40s who lured a teenage middle school girl by saying "I will give you a smartphone" and forced her to take the drug zolpidem before sexually assaulting her has been brought to trial.
The Daegu District Prosecutors' Office's Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (Chief Prosecutor Jang Il-hee) announced on the 21st that A (44) was arrested and indicted on charges including violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Abuse, and requested an electronic monitoring order.
On February 7, A is accused of approaching middle school student B on the street by asking how to buy the clothes she was wearing, then taking her to a restaurant saying "I will buy you a meal," and touching her body.
Then, on the 11th of the same month, A met B again by saying "I will give you a smartphone," sexually assaulted her once more at a restaurant, took her to a karaoke room, mixed a drug containing zolpidem into her drink, and after B lost consciousness, forcibly sexually assaulted her. A is also accused of secretly stealing B’s wallet containing 18,000 won in cash.
Earlier, on January 3, he approached another teenager on the street and attempted to lure her by saying he would buy her meat, but the attempt failed.
A prosecution official stated, "After receiving the case, we applied additional charges including violation of the Narcotics Control Act and child abuse through supplementary investigation."
