At around 6:16 a.m. on the 21st, the firefighting response level 2 at the fire site of Korea Carbon's second factory in Miryang-si, Gyeongnam, was downgraded to level 1 at around 9:42 a.m.
According to the Gyeongnam Provincial Control Team and Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, the fire broke out at around 4:57 a.m. that day, and 180 firefighters, 20 volunteer firefighters, and 324 personnel including police and military were dispatched to the scene following a report from a factory official.
Seven firefighting helicopters, eight pump trucks, ten water tanks, and a total of 41 firefighting vehicles were mobilized for extinguishing operations.
The fire that started in the factory spread to a nearby mountain, but there have been no reported casualties so far.
