Korea National University of Cultural Heritage 'Spring Donation Special Exhibition'
Korea National University of Cultural Heritage announced on the 19th that it will hold a 'Spring Donation Special Exhibition' at the Onjigwan on campus until August 31. About thirty pieces, including ceramics and calligraphy donated by professors and traditional culture artists, will be showcased.
The most anticipated works are pottery and porcelain. Visitors can appreciate the creative coloring and serene forms of Jidumun (指頭文) gray-white porcelain masterpieces by Professor Choi Seongjae of the Department of Traditional Arts and Crafts and his disciples potters Kang Taechun, Im Seungdeok, and Choi Duwoo. Jidumun gray-white porcelain is a gray-white porcelain decorated with patterns applied using fingertips.
The exhibition also features 'Buddhas and Bodhisattvas' by Park Chansu, a holder of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage for wood carving, wood carving artworks by Kim Youngmin and Hong Seonghyo, and 'Dragon Pattern Roof Tile' by Kim Changdae, a holder of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage for tile making. Visitors can also see works by Changam Lee Samman, known as one of the three great calligraphers of the late Joseon period alongside Kim Jeonghui and Jo Gwangjin. An official explained, "These works were donated by Jo Insook, a parent."
The exhibition is open for viewing on weekdays from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. It is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
