On the 17th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it received the highest grade (SA) in the ‘2023 Evaluation of Pledge Implementation Plans by Elected Heads of Basic Local Governments in the 8th Local Election’ conducted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.
This evaluation was conducted to enhance the effectiveness and feasibility of election pledges from 226 basic local government heads nationwide, comprehensively assessing specific pledge implementation methods such as policy goals, annual implementation roadmaps, and financial plans.
The evaluation criteria consisted of 35 indicators across four major areas: ▲Customization (comprehensive composition, individual composition) ▲Democracy ▲Transparency ▲Pledge Consistency. Through first and second evaluations and data verification, basic local governments nationwide were classified into five grades (SA, A, B, C, D).
As a result, Buk-gu received the highest grade, SA, in the comprehensive evaluation.
Buk-gu established its governance policy for the 8th local government term around six major areas: inclusive economy city, inclusive welfare city, green safety city, dignified resident city, living culture city, and future industry city. It faithfully included annual implementation plans and financial operation plans for 42 pledges across these six areas in the pledge implementation plan, earning high evaluations.
Going forward, Buk-gu plans to take the lead in recovering the local economy by solidly promoting pledge projects such as establishing a mutual growth fund to closely support small business owners struggling due to the economic downturn and providing inclusive financial support through the Small Business Hope Dream program.
Additionally, through pledge projects like creating citizens’ soaring paths from Mudeung to Yeongsan and building carbon-neutral green villages, Buk-gu intends to firmly establish a foundation for low-carbon green growth.
Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, stated, “The highest grade in the pledge evaluation is the fruitful result of our staff’s efforts and active communication with residents to fulfill our precious promises to the citizens.” He added, “We will continue to listen to the voices of 430,000 residents and steadily implement pledge projects so that residents can feel the impact and enhance the value of Buk-gu.”
