Commissioner of Police's Authority to Issue 'Warning Measures'
The National Police Agency announced on the 14th that it has issued a warning by the authority of the Commissioner General to Police Chief Superintendent A, who was suspected of abusing power over a subordinate at a police station in Seoul.
Police Chief Superintendent A has been under an internal investigation since the 8th of last month for allegedly abusing power by giving unfair work orders to B, a general administrative officer in the finance department of the affiliated police station, from October last year until recently.
The investigation revealed that Police Chief Superintendent A made requests that violated budget guidelines, such as instructing the private delivery of floral wreaths, and managed the organization in violation of related regulations by arbitrarily separating departments.
Accordingly, the National Police Agency judged that Chief Superintendent A’s actions violated Article 56 of the State Public Officials Act concerning the duty of sincerity, and issued a warning by the authority of the Commissioner General. It also explained that the violations were immediately corrected and measures were taken to ensure that the complainant did not suffer any disadvantages or harm.
