- NFT Utilizing Global IPs from Major Webtoon Companies Participating in Hypercomic and GNJ Production
- Large-Scale Joint IP Development Collaboration for Use in Web Novels, Webtoons, Dramas, and Games
Hypercomic (CEO Philip Bae) and Supernormal (CEO Choi Yujin) announced on the 13th that they have signed a partnership to jointly develop large-scale IPs for issuing NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) utilizing global top web novel/webtoon IPs (Intellectual Property) and for the development and popularization of the Web 3.0 ecosystem.
Supernormal is a world-class high-end art-focused NFT team that has recorded a cumulative transaction volume of over 100 billion KRW on 'OpenSea,' the world's largest NFT marketplace, maintaining the number one position among domestic projects since its launch. Their goal is to transfer the high-end art images and achievements of Web 3 to traditional industries and the Web 2 market.
The 'original IP' of webtoon/web novel-based videos is webtoons/web novels. Hypercomic presents the 'IP 3.0' vision to enable fandom participation in the IP business that produces and distributes webtoon/web novel and webtoon/web novel-based video content, and it is a project implementing an original IP launchpad and a Web 3.0 webtoon platform. Hypercomic’s major participants, including MStoryHub, Red Ice, Ultra Media, Content Lab Blue, and G&G Production, have nurtured numerous webtoons/web novels that ranked first in Korea, the United States, and Japan.
Through this partnership, fans of webtoons/web novels will be offered new NFTs and experiences interpreted as high-end art by top global and domestic illustrators collaborating with Supernormal. Additionally, leveraging the production and nurturing capabilities of the participating companies’ IPs, they will jointly develop large-scale IPs that can lead the popularization of Web 3.
Choi Yujin, CEO of Supernormal, stated, “This partnership is significant as it allows webtoon/web novel fandoms worldwide to experience high-end NFTs and contribute to the popularization of the Web 3.0 industry through joint IP development.”
Philip Bae, CEO of Hypercomic, said, “I have felt the need for the development of large-scale IPs for the popularization of Web 3.0,” adding, “We aim to co-develop IPs with Hypercomic and its partners and help them grow well into web novels, webtoons, games, dramas, and more.”
