[Mania] Sticks to Your Ear Even During Intense Workouts... The Ultimate Sports Earphones 'LG Tone Free Fit'

'One Million Edition' Review
Dynamic Design with Stable Fit
Excellent Sterilization and Noise Cancelling Performance
Desired Sound Quality with Equalizer Settings

As the weather warms up and people dress lighter, more individuals are engaging in exercise. The range of workouts has expanded from outdoor exercise and gyms to home training via YouTube, making exercise equipment an essential part of daily life. In particular, Bluetooth earphones, which boast fashionable and convenient portability, have become segmented into everyday and sports use, leading to growing interest in customized earphones.

Amid this trend, LG Electronics has released a special edition of its sports-focused wireless earphones, the LG Tone Free Fit. Created in collaboration with the popular dance crew One Million Dance Studio, the product features the same functional aspects as the Tone Free Fit launched last year but stands out with its stylish case. LG Electronics explained that the collaboration with One Million, which has 26 million YouTube subscribers, is expected to attract the attention of Generation Z.

I received the product and used it personally for about two weeks. Considering it is a sports-type earphone, I focused on its special features during exercise rather than daily life, comparing it with the AirPods Pro 1st generation that I currently use while doing workouts like gym training and yoga.

First, the design emphasizes a sporty look by adding One Million’s dynamic image to the existing Tone Free Fit product. The product case features One Million’s logo, a two-tone color scheme of Boost Blue and Boost Lime, and a urethane handle. Upon opening the case, the light green interior and the earbuds’ subtle green accent gave a fresh impression.

I replaced the included Airgel and Airhook with ones that fit my ears and tried wearing the product. The ear gels are made of a flexible material that bends according to the ear’s contours, fitting snugly while being lightweight enough that I barely felt I was wearing earphones. Each earbud weighs 5.9g, making it compact and comfortable.

When choosing sports earphones, the most important factor is undoubtedly a secure fit that prevents them from falling out during intense movement. Wearing the Tone Free Fit and exercising seriously, I found that the ear support design shaped like the auricle provided stability without shaking. Even while running, the earphones stayed firmly in place, allowing me to focus on my workout without worrying about them falling out.

The same was true when sweating during exercise. When using AirPods Pro, I often had to touch my ears to properly fit the earphones as they slipped out due to sweat, but the Tone Free Fit did not slip, significantly reducing discomfort. Its open design allows good air circulation to dissipate heat, making it comfortable to wear even in warm conditions.

The earphones also feature a bacteria removal function using ultraviolet (LED) light. Since earphones can easily become contaminated and are used in close contact with the ear canal, hygiene is a concern. However, the LG Tone Free Fit uses medical-grade silicone Airgel, and unlike previous models that only sterilized the ear gel mesh, this model introduces UVnano care that removes 99.9% of harmful bacteria on the entire ear gel using UV LED, allowing for hygienic use. Although the sterilization level cannot be visually confirmed, it was more satisfying than other products without hygiene management features.

With an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, the earphones can be safely worn without worry even in rain or snow. However, only the earbuds have the IP67 water and dust resistance, so the charging case requires careful management.

The powerful noise-canceling feature also stood out. When wearing the AirPods Pro with noise canceling enabled, the noisy music in the gym was still faintly audible, but with the Tone Free Fit, it was completely blocked out. This allowed me to fully concentrate on my workout even in loud environments, which was very appealing.

Battery capacity is another strength. The fast charging feature allows for 1 hour of use after just 5 minutes of charging, and the earbuds can last up to 10 hours on a full charge, with up to 30 hours including the cradle, so there was no need to worry about battery life during exercise. The mood lighting feature also made it convenient to use late at night.

By downloading the LG Tone Free app, I was able to learn detailed usage instructions. It allowed control of the earbuds and adjustment of noise-canceling levels. The equalizer settings enabled selection of sound quality tailored to different uses, a feature not available on AirPods Pro, which I found very useful. There are five sound fields and two user-defined settings; I used Bass Boost for music and 3D Sound Stage for baseball games or movies. Aside from the case being somewhat larger than other brands’ earphones, it is difficult to find faults in terms of comfort, water resistance, sound quality, battery life, and interface.
