Goseong-gun, "Life is Precious... Conducting Suicide Prevention Education"

On the 12th, Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, conducted education on youth life respect and suicide prevention for about 60 first-year students and teachers at Sogaya Middle School's audiovisual room.


According to the Statistics Korea's 'Cause of Death Statistics,' the leading cause of death among Korean youth is intentional self-harm (suicide).


As the issue of youth suicide has emerged as a serious social problem, the Goseong-gun Mental Health Welfare Center will visit seven middle and high schools in the district from April to September to promote suicide prevention and respect for life.

Goseong-gun, "Life is Precious... Conducting Suicide Prevention Education" Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam conducted education on youth life respect and suicide prevention.

The education utilized the Ministry of Health and Welfare's certified suicide prevention program materials, "Life Relay (for Youth)," covering topics such as ▲ youth stress and mental health ▲ understanding suicide properly, open communication, and refusal skills.


Following this, participants wrote life respect pledges, recognizing that life is not only their own but also connected to family and the world like a relay race, and pledged to respond well to suicide risks by appreciating the preciousness of life.


Shim Yoon-kyung, Director of the Public Health Center, stated, “Life is more precious than anything else in the world,” and pledged to continue education widely to spread awareness of life respect so that students can have healthy and vibrant school lives.
