Acquiring Skills Through Various Horticultural Activities
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has officially started the 2023 Rural Women Capacity Development Training to develop the potential abilities of rural women who lead the vitality of rural communities.
This year’s training targets a total of 24 trainees across two courses: 11 participants in the Flower Tea and Handmade Syrup course and 13 in the Pressed Flower Craft course. From March to June, each course will conduct 10 practical and theoretical sessions over four months.
The Flower Tea and Handmade Syrup course includes ginger tree flower tea, magnolia flower tea, lemon ginger syrup, and lemon omija syrup, while the Pressed Flower Craft course will cover making flower mirrors, necklaces, and earrings.
The training outcomes will be exhibited and promoted during the 4th Geochang I Mia Flower Festival held in May to highlight the excellence of Geochang’s plant resources.
Despite their busy farming schedules, participants show excellent attendance by joining evening classes.
The Rural Women Capacity Development Training is being promoted to create income sources from agricultural products using local plant resources and to enhance the professionalism of women farmers. Various courses such as pressed flower crafts, flower tea, and terrariums have been offered.
