Presidential Office: "Wiretapping and Eavesdropping? Absurd False Allegations"
Former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok claimed that the presidential office's stance denying any possibility of wiretapping or eavesdropping is "more serious if true, as it would mean an insider leak."
On the 12th, Lee wrote on Facebook, "If the presidential office's complete denial of wiretapping is true, it means someone leaked the information, and among our key national security officials, there is someone passing information to the United States," adding, "The story is that the U.S. created a report suggesting communication wiretapping to cover up the identity of that person."
He continued, "Being wiretapped is already a serious situation, but if it turns into an insider leak, it becomes even more serious," and said, "If it were wiretapping, they would face criticism for hastily relocating the presidential office, so it seems they must deny it at all costs."

Lee also added, "During the West Sea public official killing incident, there was debate over whether the North Korean defection was discovered through wiretapping or other means, and it seems the exact details will not be revealed this time either."
The presidential office recently dismissed foreign media reports suggesting that U.S. intelligence agencies wiretapped the presidential office as "absurd false allegations."
On the 11th, the presidential office issued a statement through its spokesperson, saying, "The Yongsan presidential office is a military facility with a much stronger wiretapping prevention system than the former Blue House, which is currently being operated," and added, "Unlike the Blue House era when the presidential office, secretariat, and security office were scattered, now a unified security system and dedicated personnel maintain 'ironclad security.'"
Kim Tae-hyo, the first deputy director of the National Security Office, said on the same day, "There is no evidence that our ally, the United States, acted with any malice against us." Kim also stated the previous day, "South Korea and the U.S. agree that a significant portion of the disclosed information is fabricated."
