"Explanation on 'Test of Maximum Video Recording Time'
Netizens Suspect 'Work for Joining n번방, etc.'"
A story about a husband secretly installing a phone in the bedroom and recording videos without his wife's knowledge has sparked outrage among netizens.
On the 12th, a post titled "My husband secretly recorded videos and said it was a test" was uploaded to an online community and has spread across various forums. The author, Mr. A, shared, "My husband secretly turned on the video on a sub-phone (an extra phone) and went to work, but he said it was just a test."
According to Mr. A, the phone was placed hidden behind items in the bed storage cabinet, facing the master bathroom. He wrote, "It was set up so that when I come out after washing, he could see me changing clothes and getting ready," adding, "When I checked the phone, the video had been recording for over ten minutes."
When Mr. A confronted her husband after discovering the phone, he replied that it was "just a test." The husband explained, "I was experimenting to see how many hours the video could record at most," and added, "If you record a video, there are sounds intermittently anyway."
He further said, "I placed the phone there thinking you would come out dressed," and insisted, "I had no intention of secretly filming. Please believe me."
Mr. A expressed disbelief in her husband's explanation. She said, "When my husband is home, he comes out of the bathroom already dressed, so he said he set it up expecting that," and added, "Even if I had come out in pajamas, it would mean he was trying to record me changing clothes, so he's just making excuses."
She also questioned, "If it was a test, why would he leave it at home there and go to work instead of leaving it in the car or at the office?" Mr. A added, "I wrote this post because my husband refuses to admit wrongdoing and keeps making excuses."
Mr. A also shared the message conversation with her husband. In the photos, Mr. A confronted him, saying, "This is a sex crime. If you turn on a video in the women's bathroom and then go to the police station asking them to believe you, would they? You are exactly that kind of person." The husband replied, "There are sounds intermittently in the video. Then are all people who install CCTV at home criminals?"
Among netizens who read this post, suspicions arose that the purpose might be illegal filming. Netizens reacted strongly with comments such as, "I heard that joining illegal filming sharing sites like the 'Nth Room' requires uploading secret camera videos of moms, wives, or daughters," "You should check the computer or phone more thoroughly," and "Gather evidence and get a safe divorce."
