Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is considering a tour of four African countries during the Golden Week holiday period, which spans from late this month to early next month.
At a press conference this afternoon, Hirokazu Matsuno, Chief Cabinet Secretary and spokesperson for the Japanese government, stated, "Prime Minister Kishida is coordinating plans to visit Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, and Mozambique during Golden Week, provided that circumstances allow."
Secretary Matsuno explained, "Prime Minister Kishida will hold talks with leaders of key African countries and convey his commitment to maintaining and strengthening the international order based on the rule of law ahead of the Group of Seven (G7) summit." He added, "He plans to exchange wide-ranging views to address various global challenges."
He continued, "Japan is cooperating for the sustainable growth of Africa," and added, "Prime Minister Kishida will seek to expand relations with important economic hub countries during this visit."
It is speculated that ahead of the G7 summit to be held in Hiroshima from the 19th to the 21st of next month, Prime Minister Kishida will strengthen cooperative relations for the situation in Ukraine and for peace and stability in the region through his visit to Africa.
