The Welfare Registered Mail Service is a project in which Pohang City selects 300 households each month suspected to be in crisis due to power or water disconnection, overdue electricity bills, or health insurance premium arrears, and sends registered mail containing welfare information. Postal workers deliver the mail and assess the household's living environment, actual residence status, and other basic welfare data, then complete a checklist and return it.

After reviewing the data received from the postal workers, the customized welfare teams in the towns, townships, and neighborhoods plan to provide crisis household visits, consultations, and welfare services such as public benefits and private services.

Choi Myunghwan, Director of the Welfare Bureau, said, "This agreement is expected to play a significant role in actively discovering welfare blind spot crisis households in the region and preventing social isolation and solitary deaths. Through the Welfare Registered Mail Service, we will strengthen the social safety net and create a happy Pohang where no marginalized groups are left behind."
