Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, attended the launch ceremony of the 2nd term of small businesses and small merchants in Mapo-gu held at the Mapo-gu Office auditorium on the afternoon of the 11th.
On this day, the event was held in a lively atmosphere with the newly inaugurated President Kang Myung-sook, city and district council members, and about 300 members of the Small Business and Small Merchant Association gathered for the inauguration and resignation ceremony and the appointment of executives.
In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Park Gang-su said, “Despite the difficult conditions for private economic activities due to high inflation and high interest rates, we will actively support small businesses and small merchants who cooperate to overcome difficulties, and Mapo-gu will continue to find practical support measures to help.”
Since January, Mapo-gu has secured a special guarantee fund of 100 billion KRW over four years through an agreement with Woori Bank to provide low-interest credit loans to small businesses and small merchants in the region.

Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, attended the ‘2023 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Achievement Report Meeting’ at the district office underground situation room at 4 p.m. on the 11th and expressed gratitude to outstanding donors who led neighborly love.
The district held this event to present appreciation plaques to donors who extended warm hands to vulnerable groups despite the difficult economic situation and to share the achievements of the neighbor assistance fundraising activities.
About 100 people, including Mayor Kim Tae-woo, officials from the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, and outstanding donors, attended the achievement report meeting.
The event, which opened with a congratulatory performance by the Gangseo-gu Office guitar club ‘Guitar Dungdung,’ proceeded in the order of ▲presentation of appreciation plaques ▲project progress report ▲commemorative photo of awardees.
Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “Thanks to all the donors who participated in the fundraising project, we were able to raise the highest amount ever and support more socially vulnerable people,” adding, “The district will continue to promote sharing culture and projects for socially vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone, disabled people, and households in crisis.”
The district achieved a record fundraising amount of about 3.97 billion KRW in the ‘2023 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project’ promoted together with the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to help low-income vulnerable groups have a warm winter.
Dongang Church Brightens Dongdaemun-gu with Easter ‘Joy Sharing Boxes’
On the 11th, 3,317 Joy Sharing Boxes Worth 40,000 KRW Each Donated... Delivered to Dong Resident Centers and Social Welfare Facilities
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that Dongang Church (Senior Pastor Kim Hyung-jun), located in Imun-dong, donated 3,317 Joy Sharing Boxes on the afternoon of the 11th in celebration of Easter.
Since 2007, Dongang Church has donated Easter Joy Sharing Boxes for 17 consecutive years, and this year, about 8,000 church members prepared 3,317 Joy Sharing Boxes worth about 40,000 KRW each over the past month ahead of Easter.
The Joy Sharing Boxes from Dongang Church consist of 10 items including flower salt, red pepper paste, soybean paste, instant black bean sauce noodles and curry, cut seaweed, ham, soy sauce, coffee mix, canned mackerel, and Joy Sharing Cards personally written by church members.
The district delivered 2,800 boxes to 14 Dong Resident Centers and 517 boxes to social welfare facilities in the area. These Joy Sharing Boxes will be distributed to marginalized groups in need of love and care.
In addition to donating Easter Joy Sharing Boxes, Dongang Church supports rice during Christmas and annually provides monetary donations to 120 beneficiaries.
Pastor Kim Hyung-jun of Dongang Church said, “Mayor Lee Pil-hyung personally toured Dongdaemun-gu nine times to see what is needed throughout the district, and perhaps because of that, many efforts for Dongdaemun-gu are felt. I am grateful for the deep hard work.”
Mayor Lee Pil-hyung of Dongdaemun-gu said, “I was touched by the handwritten letters directly written by the members of Dongang Church. I am thankful to Senior Pastor Kim Hyung-jun and all church members for conveying comfort and encouragement through these letters in addition to material support,” adding, “We will promptly deliver the Joy Sharing Boxes prepared by Dongang Church members to neighbors in difficult and marginalized situations in the welfare blind spots to share comfort, hope of resurrection, and the warmth of the church members.”
Jongno-gu Signs ‘Jongno Modern Mentoring’ Business Agreement with Sungkyunkwan University at the 600th Anniversary Hall on the 10th
Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Moon-heon) signed an industry-academic cooperation agreement with Sungkyunkwan University (President Yoo Ji-beom) at the 600th Anniversary Hall of Sungkyunkwan University on the 10th to smoothly promote the ‘Jongno Modern Mentoring’ project.
Thereafter, both institutions plan to continuously cooperate to promote youth social participation activities and resolve learning gaps among adolescents through ▲exchange of human and material resources ▲discovery and nurturing of talent ▲activation of youth education projects.
Mayor Jeong Moon-heon said, “This business agreement has accelerated the Jongno Modern Mentoring project,” adding, “We will continue to collaborate with local universities to present high-quality educational projects and increase satisfaction among parents, students, and youth.”
