The film "This is Moon Jae-in," depicting the life of former President Moon Jae-in after his retirement, made its debut at the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival, while Tae Young-ho, a Supreme Council Member of the People Power Party, criticized it, saying, "Stop deification."
On the 11th, Supreme Council Member Tae said through his social media service (SNS), "It seems that the 'forgotten life' mentioned by former President Moon referred to a 'selective amnesia' where the public is expected to forget only his mistakes," expressing his criticism.
Before his retirement, former President Moon stated he would "live a forgotten life," but even after stepping down, he stirred controversy by recommending a book by former Minister Cho Kuk and caused a 'relay politics' controversy over whether Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, should resign. Recently, he opened a bookstore in Yangsan, where his residence is located, sparking ongoing political interpretations related to this.
Supreme Council Member Tae said, "If you want to live a 'forgotten life,' stop releasing documentaries that deify yourself, and if you want to be remembered by the people, boldly accept criticism for the numerous mistakes made during your tenure. Do not show cowardly behavior by selectively appealing for public attention."
Meanwhile, the documentary film "This is Moon Jae-in," starring former President Moon, is the new work of director Lee Chang-jae, who previously presented "This is Roh Moo-hyun," a film about former President Roh Moo-hyun and Nosamo, the group that brought him to the presidency. The film focuses on Moon's life after his term and the 'human Moon Jae-in' living in Pyeongsan Village. Director Lee said, "This work aims to answer the questions: Why did Moon Jae-in, a human rights lawyer who disliked politics, choose the path to become president, and how did his life unfold after relinquishing power?"
