Next Entertainment World (NEW)'s in-house venture New ID announced on the 10th that it has launched 'Toony Planet,' a comprehensive animation channel composed of Korea's representative kids content, on major English-speaking advertising-based free streaming service (FAST·Free Ad-Supported TV) platforms.
New ID is a media tech company that broadcasts 84 live channels on global platforms in the FAST market. Utilizing the advantages of ad-supported media streaming services that require no separate sign-up or subscription fees, it is expanding Korean content service platforms.
New ID launched the comprehensive animation channel 'Toony Planet,' bringing together top domestic online video service (OTT) kids category No. 1 'Tobot,' the 25-year-old global K-kids brand and national little sister 'Kongsuni,' 'Robocar Poli' with 6.6 million subscribers, 'Catch! Teenieping,' the No. 1 girls' IP in Korea gaining worldwide attention, 'Mini Force,' a leading figure in the Korean kids animation wave, Korea's first animendary (animation + documentary) 'Detective Pete,' 'Bebefin,' which ranked in the top 10 on Netflix in 12 countries worldwide as Korea's first animation, 'Jelligo,' a non-verbal slapstick comedy popular globally, and 'Cocobi,' with 2 million subscribers.
The 'Toony Planet' channel, offering the richest content among single kids channels, has been available since the 4th (U.S. time) through major FAST platforms such as Roku's 'The Roku Channel,' LG Electronics' 'LG Channel,' and the global streaming service 'Plex,' which has 25 million users, reaching connected TV (CTV) viewers in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and some European countries.
As the FAST market, which provides live broadcast channels categorized by content genre and viewing preferences, grows, demand for K-kids content is increasing following K-pop, dramas, movies, and variety shows. After partnering with The Pinkfong Company to launch the 'Baby Shark TV' channel on major global FAST platforms, New ID recorded the No. 1 viewing time within the kids category, establishing its presence. It plans to expand the K-kids fandom through 'Toony Planet.'
Park Jun-kyung, CEO of New ID, said, "Through 'Toony Planet,' a family channel optimized for TV-based FAST services, we will promote the charm of K-kids and do our best to ensure that new overseas fandoms lead to the expansion of the character business."
