[One Day Walk] DMZ Scenery Viewing the 1052 Marker... DMZ Inje Course

From April 21, the ‘DMZ Peace Trail Theme Routes’ will be fully opened. The ‘DMZ Peace Trail Theme Routes’ consist of 11 differentiated theme courses across 10 border local governments?Ganghwa, Gimpo, Goyang, Paju, Yeoncheon, Cheorwon, Hwacheon, Yanggu, Inje, and Goseong?that border the Demilitarized Zone. By applying in advance through Durudubi, etc. (participation fee 10,000 KRW), visitors can explore the routes by vehicle and on foot.

Today’s focus is the Inje course. Inje is a region bordering the Military Demarcation Line, still a military operational area where heavily armed troops face each other across the North and South. However, the beautiful DMZ scenery viewed from Hill 1052 and the natural ecosystem of the DMZ enjoyed through walking tours offer visitors a peaceful and moving beauty. Tours depart every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The Daegok-ri Outpost is a checkpoint for entering inside the Civilian Control Line. From passing the Daegok-ri Outpost, civilian access is restricted. Passing through here marks the official start of the DMZ Peace Trail Inje section exploration. Hill 1052 is where the GOP (General Outpost) is located. It is a facility inside the civilian control zone, formerly used as a bunker and currently serving as barracks for the 12th Infantry Division. From Hill 1052, you can overlook the beautiful natural scenery of the DMZ at a glance. Through the Eulji Samgeori walking tour, visitors can admire the beautiful natural landscape beyond the barbed wire fences. This area is home to large mammals such as the Asiatic black bear, musk deer, and Siberian roe deer, which are rarely seen in other parts of the Korean Peninsula.
