Car break-in crimes have increased in the Gwangju area.

According to the Gwangju Police Agency on the 5th, a total of 112 car break-in crimes occurred from January to March this year, marking a 43.5% increase compared to the same period last year (78 cases).

During the same period this year, the number of arrests was 105, and the arrest rate was calculated at 93.75%. Last year's arrest rate was 52.6%.

In a recent case, Mr. A (in his 40s) was caught by the police on suspicion of breaking into a car parked on a street in Hakdong, Dong-gu on the 23rd of last month and stealing valuables worth about 4.8 million won.

Teenager Mr. B and Mr. C in his 30s, who found unlocked cars in an apartment parking lot, opened the doors and stole valuables, were also arrested one after another.

A police official said, "Incidents are occurring in unlocked cars during the early dawn hours when there are few people around," and urged, "It is necessary to be cautious to avoid becoming a target of crime, such as by checking security devices."
