The delegation from Yanji City, Jilin Province, China, a sister city of Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee), visited the district at 11 a.m. on the 5th to promote friendly cooperation and sister city exchanges.


Since signing a friendship agreement in 1997 and establishing a sister city relationship in 2011, Gwanak-gu and Yanji City have maintained a close cooperative relationship for over 20 years through exchanges in various fields such as youth homestays, trade fairs, economy, and culture.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, met with the Yanji City delegation of six led by Vice Mayor Wang Chengsheng (王成盛) to discuss ways to revitalize exchanges and held a friendly talk.


Mayor Park said, “I hope this visit will serve as an opportunity to share useful information on mutual interests between the two cities and further develop our friendly cooperative relationship. I wish for more active exchanges in the future so that we can grow together and move toward a bright future.”


After the meeting, the delegation plans to visit domestic medical institutions and medical device manufacturers and is scheduled to depart on the 7th.




Geumcheon-gu Successfully Hosts KBS National Singing Contest Public Recording

15 teams advance to the finals after preliminary rounds on April 2

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon) announced that on the 4th, the public recording of the long-running domestic program ‘KBS National Singing Contest Geumcheon-gu Edition’ was successfully completed at Geumcheon Sports Park with enthusiastic support from about 5,000 spectators.


The National Singing Contest is a representative popular program of KBS with a 43-year history and was held again in Geumcheon after eight years since 2015.

In the Geumcheon-gu edition of the National Singing Contest, 15 teams who passed the first and second preliminary rounds held on April 2 at Geumnarae Art Hall performed, showcasing their skills and charm to the fullest.


Comedian Kim Shin-young hosted the event, and invited singers Bae Il-ho, Hyun Sook, Seo Ji-o, Ryu Ji-kwang, and Jung Dae-wang graced the stage.


This edition of the KBS National Singing Contest Geumcheon-gu will be broadcast on KBS 1TV on April 23.


Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon of Geumcheon-gu said, “Through the Geumcheon-gu edition of the National Singing Contest, the first held in Seoul since COVID-19, I hope residents who have endured difficult times experienced a warm moment of comfort like spring sunshine.”




Seodaemun-gu Signs MOU with Seoul National University Environmental Planning Institute to Build a Sustainable Urban Environment

Promoting Industry-Academia Cooperation to Enhance Urban Competitiveness in the 8th Term of Local Government



Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced on the 5th that it recently signed a ‘Joint Cooperation Agreement for Building a Sustainable Urban Environment’ with the Environmental Planning Institute of Seoul National University (Director Kim Bu-yeol).


Accordingly, the two institutions will mutually cooperate on urban and environmental projects including ▲ devising development plans for Seodaemun-gu’s sustainable growth and leap forward ▲ establishing urban development and regional revitalization plans ▲ seeking strategies for the swift implementation of key policies in the 8th term of local government.

The signing ceremony held on the 30th of last month at the mayor’s office was attended by Director Kim Bu-yeol, Professors Kim Kyung-min and Park Dae-kwon from the institute, along with district officials, sharing the vision for Seodaemun-gu’s urban policies.


Mayor Lee Seong-heon said, “Seodaemun-gu is a city rich in potential with excellent natural environments such as Ansan and Hongjecheon and home to nine universities. I hope this agreement will serve as a catalyst for the swift promotion of differentiated urban development plans and policy projects utilizing these strengths.”


Director Kim Bu-yeol said, “We will actively cooperate to combine Seodaemun-gu’s regional advantages with the institute’s competitiveness to create synergy effects in urban environmental policies.”


Based on this MOU, Seodaemun-gu and the Seoul National University Environmental Planning Institute plan to develop and implement concrete action plans for residents’ long-awaited projects such as creating a landmark in northwest Seoul, accelerating redevelopment and reconstruction, and revitalizing the Sinchon commercial district.
