'Traditional Hanbok, Life Ceremonies' Hanbok Exhibition of Rites and Ceremonies
'Let's Gather Together for Moran' Palace and Flower Lectures and Moran Cultivation

The Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Division and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation will present the exhibition "Traditional Hanbok, Life Ceremonies (一生儀禮)" at Tongmyeongjeon Hall in Changgyeonggung Palace from the 7th to the 23rd. This event introduces ten types of traditional hanbok related to life ceremonies. Life ceremonies refer to rituals held at significant moments considered important throughout an individual's life.

The exhibition highlights traditional hanbok worn during ceremonies such as the coming-of-age ceremonies (Gwanrye and Gyerye), weddings where partners meet, longevity celebrations (Suyeonrye), and ancestral rites (Jerye). Five hanbok designers?Kim Inja, Yoo Hyunhwa, Lee Chunseop, Lee Hyesoon, and Jo Euna?participated in the creation. The hanbok fabrics used were developed by the Korea Craft & Design Foundation and the Korea Silk Research Institute.


Visitors to Changgyeonggung Palace can view the exhibition freely. The exhibition hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, at the Changgyeonggung Grand Greenhouse, the "Let's Gather Peonies Together" program will be held over five sessions on the 21st and 22nd. This plant-growing event targets single adult households. Participants can listen to lectures themed around palaces and flowers and plant peonies in pots themselves. After the experience, participants can take their peonies home and nurture them for two months, posting cultivation records on the Changgyeonggung Management Office's or their personal social media (SNS). A raffle will be held to award souvenirs.
