The construction and relocation project, which will take place in the Bangsan-dong area of Jung-gu, Seoul, next to the current National Medical Center, is scheduled to be completed by 2028. The competition scope covers a site area of 42,276㎡ and a total floor area of 184,810㎡. Based on the proposals submitted by June 30, a technical review and presentation evaluation will be conducted, and the final decision will be made through the final judging committee.

Joo Young-soo, director of the National Medical Center, said, "The National Medical Center is a symbolically designated institution as the national central hospital, and it can be said to be the core hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, encompassing treatment, policy, and research," adding, "It will be the last stronghold not only in terms of medical services that all citizens of the Republic of Korea should naturally receive but also in clinical capabilities."
