'Arrest of High School Student Gang for Assaulting Middle School Students and Extorting Money'

A group of high school students who assaulted a middle school student and fled after extorting money and valuables has been caught by the police.

According to a report compiled by Asia Economy on the 3rd, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station announced that they apprehended four high school students, including A (16), on suspicion of robbery and injury at around 5:50 a.m. the previous day.

A and the others are accused of assaulting the victim, middle school student B (14), at an officetel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, and then extorting valuables such as a smartwatch, necklace, and ring.

The police responded to a report received around 4 a.m., in which the caller gave their location by phone but then the call was disconnected, and found B near Yeongdeungpo Station.

After about an hour and a half of searching, the police blocked the taxi that A and the others boarded to escape with a detective vehicle and arrested them. A and the others are currently detained in a holding cell.

A police official stated that after conducting an investigation of A and the others, they plan to consider applying for arrest warrants against them.
