Gangnam Women Abduction and Murder Trio... Detention Hearing Tomorrow (Comprehensive)

The decision on whether to detain the suspects involved in a kidnapping and murder case that occurred in the heart of Gangnam-gu, Seoul, will be made on the 3rd.

On the 2nd, Yoo Chang-hoon, the warrant judge at the Seoul Central District Court, announced that a pre-arrest detention hearing (warrant examination) for Lee Mo (35), Hwang Mo (36), and Yeon Mo (30), who are accused of robbery-murder and corpse abandonment, will be held at 11 a.m. the following day. The issuance of the arrest warrants is expected to be decided in the afternoon of the same day.

Three men in their 30s suspected of kidnapping, murdering, and abandoning a woman were urgently arrested, and on the afternoon of the 31st, police who recovered the body near Daecheong Lake in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, loaded investigation tools into a police car.

They are suspected of kidnapping and murdering a woman in her 40s in front of an apartment in the Yeoksam-dong area of Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at around 11:46 p.m. on the 29th of last month. After kidnapping the victim, they strangled her to death in Daejeon on the 30th of last month and abandoned the body in a mountain near Daecheong Dam, according to investigations.

The police believe that the suspects conspired to commit a planned crime. During the investigation, Yeon reportedly stated that the crime was prepared for financial gain over the past 2 to 3 months. Additionally, it is reported that Lee identified the victim and informed Hwang, who then relayed this proposal to Yeon, with the police securing testimonies regarding the method of conspiracy.

The police stated that they are focusing their investigation on the motive for the crime and the relationship between the victim and the suspects.

Lee was recently under police investigation and sent to the prosecution for robbery and home intrusion charges, but it is known that these charges are unrelated to the current kidnapping and murder case involving the victim.
