April 3 ~ August 31: Recruiting 100 Local Youth Experiencing Psychological Difficulties
Providing 1:1 Psychological Counseling Tailored to the Needs of Participants to Support Emotional Stability and Mental Health Recovery
Voucher Worth Approximately 500,000 to 700,000 KRW Per Person (Total of 10 Sessions) Provided
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gijae) announced that it will officially launch the “Youth Mental Health Voucher Support Project” this month, providing professional psychological counseling services to help local youth achieve emotional stability and recover their mental health.
This project was established to support youth who are experiencing psychological difficulties due to recent increases in youth unemployment, high inflation, and COVID-19 blues by subsidizing psychological counseling costs, encouraging them to fulfill their roles as healthy members of society.
The target participants are 100 youth aged 19 to 34 who reside in Yangcheon-gu, with recruitment running from April 3 to August 31. Any youth experiencing psychological difficulties can apply regardless of income or assets, and selection will be based on priority and order of application. Priority is given first to 1st priority (youth preparing for independence and extended protection children) and then 2nd priority (youth linked with mental health welfare centers).
Service types include ▲Type A (for those needing light psychological counseling, with a co-payment of 6,000 KRW per session) and ▲Type B (for youth preparing for independence or those requiring more intensive counseling, with a co-payment of 7,000 KRW per session), allowing youth to choose according to their situation.
Selected service users will receive a total of 10 sessions over three months: one pre-assessment psychological test, eight customized service sessions tailored to the participant’s needs and situation, and one post-assessment test. The district plans to coordinate with mental health welfare centers or medical institutions to ensure timely care for participants who require ongoing management after the service ends.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the local community service center at the resident registration address or online through the Bokjiro website. Applicants can select the service provider most convenient for them regardless of their registered address.
The Youth Mental Health Voucher Support Project is part of the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s “Community Service Investment Project” (voucher) that has been underway since last year. Last year, the district selected and supported a total of 92 participants.
Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “I hope this project will provide warm comfort to youth experiencing psychological difficulties such as depression, anxiety, and stress. We will continue to strengthen support for youth so that their minds can become healthy and they can lead happy lives.”
