Busan City 'Busan World Expo Hosting Promotion Business Agreement'
Representatives leading the tourism industry in Busan gathered to pledge cooperation for attracting the 2030 World Expo to Busan. On the 31st at 2 p.m., Busan City signed a 'Business Agreement for Promoting the Attraction of the 2030 World Expo' with the Korea Tourism Organization, Songdo Marine Cable Car, and Haeundae Blueline at Busan City Hall.
In this business agreement, these organizations and companies promised to mutually cooperate in the 'Bugihyo' campaign and promotional activities targeting domestic and international tourists to prepare for the visit of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) inspection team and to increase enthusiasm for attracting the 2030 World Expo.

At the signing ceremony, Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Kim Jang-sil, President of the Korea Tourism Organization, Choi Hyo-seop, CEO of Songdo Marine Cable Car, and Bae Jong-jin, CEO of Haeundae Blueline, attended and signed the business agreement.
They will carry out promotional activities for attracting the 2030 World Expo to Busan by utilizing Busan’s tourist facilities, Songdo Marine Cable Car and Haeundae Blueline Park, targeting domestic and international tourists. They also agreed to cooperate in the 'Bugihyo' campaign supporting the attraction of the 2030 World Expo, which started on the 24th.
Songdo Marine Cable Car and Haeundae Blueline will provide full free wrapping advertisements for the 'Bugihyo' campaign and will spare no support at campaign sites. Along with this, the Korea Tourism Organization will also jointly conduct the 'Bugihyo On-Offline Campaign' with Busan City.
Kim Jang-sil, President of the Korea Tourism Organization, said, “We will actively cooperate to build consensus and create a supportive atmosphere among domestic and international tourists for attracting the Busan World Expo,” adding, “As citizens, we will devote our efforts to attracting the World Expo, one of the world’s three major mega events.”
Mayor Park Hyung-jun emphasized, “The Busan World Expo is a registered expo, known as an economic and cultural Olympics, different in scale from recognized expos like the Daejeon and Yeosu Expos,” and added, “If Busan succeeds in attracting it, it will become a growth engine that will fundamentally change South Korea’s economic structure.”
The 2030 World Expo is scheduled to begin on-site inspections in April, followed by the 4th competitive presentation in June, and the final selection of the host city in November.
