According to the FSS, the whistleblowers reported specific details such as the identity of the suspects, the nature of their actions, and the timing regarding unfair trading using leading chat rooms. Through this, they made a decisive contribution to strictly punishing illegal activities involving leading chat rooms, which is one of the financial crimes that harm the public.

Looking at the reward payment status for unfair trading reports over the past five years, the amount paid this year was the highest since 124 million KRW in 2020. In 2019, it was 38.2 million KRW, 11.85 million KRW in 2021, and no rewards were paid last year.

The FSS stated, "We plan to actively provide rewards within the budget for reports that contribute to the investigation of unfair trading," adding, "In particular, to eradicate unfair trading activities such as stock price manipulation through leading chat rooms, active reporting with concrete evidence is necessary."

It further emphasized, "Individual investors should exercise special caution as using illegal leading chat rooms carries a high risk of losses and exposure to unfair trading activities."
