SK Shieldus (CEO Park Jin-hyo) announced on the 31st that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cisco to strengthen cyber threat response for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This agreement between SK Shieldus and Cisco was established to support SMEs, which are vulnerable to cyber threats due to a lack of security expertise, budget, and personnel. According to the Korea Internet & Security Agency's '2022 Cyber Security Threat Analysis,' the number of cyber security breach incidents reported until November last year increased by 63.6% compared to the previous year, reaching 1,045 cases, with SMEs accounting for a large proportion (88.5%) by company size.
Accordingly, the two companies will collaborate based on Cisco's ongoing national digital transformation support program (CDA) to help SMEs build a secure business environment without initial investment burdens. SK Shieldus will implement Cisco's cloud-based network and security solutions and provide technical support to SME customers. Cisco will lend security equipment free of charge and offer consulting services.
Park Jin-hyo, CEO of SK Shieldus, said, "Through cooperation with Cisco, a global IT company leading the development of internet technology worldwide, we can contribute to expanding the security capabilities of SMEs and creating a safe cybersecurity environment." He added, "We will fully support strengthening the security infrastructure of SMEs vulnerable to cyber threats by combining the excellent cybersecurity technology and capabilities possessed by both companies."
